• laboratory technicians and laboratory assistants;
• medical doctors, clinical scientists and other healthcare professionals;

What education and skills do you need as a Lab Scientist?

A relevant degree in Life Sciences is essential, plus professional development and training in specific laboratory techniques or equipment, and extensive practical laboratory experience. Whatever level you are at, particular skills and personal attributes are essential. Some of these are:

• familiarity with relevant regulations and safety protocols such as biosafety or good laboratory practices;
• strong computer skills and experience with relevant software or programming languages including data management and analysis software;
• effective organisation skills with a focus on achieving results, with accurate documentation and reporting;
• strong problem-solving and analytical skills, able to think creatively and critically, and identify solutions;
• a team-oriented mindset so you communicate effectively and collaborate well with others, sharing ideas;
